During a new conversation with reporters from the outlet, Extra, Kelly Clarkson shared that her children are currently seeing a therapist to help them get through their parents’ separation. Fans of the singer-songwriter know she has two kids with her estranged husband, Brandon Blackstock, including River Rose, 6, and Remington Alexander, 4.
Page Six reported this week that Gwen Stefani and Kelly, 38, sat down for an interview in which the star shared what it was like to separate from Blackstock amid the coronavirus lockdowns. According to Kelly, she is more focused on protecting her kids right now rather than herself.
She and Blackstock revealed they were splitting up back in June of this year. Speaking with Extra, Kelly shared that she and her kids are getting a lot of help from people, including therapists, child psychologists, and other professionals.
The star says she and her former husband, Brandon, want to make sure they separate correctly with the least amount of damage done to their children as possible.
Clarkson said she and Blackstock “want to do it right,” and while everyone is sad right now, “it’s okay to be sad.” According to Kelly, going through a divorce as a public figure has been very challenging for her, and Gwen, who has also gone through a separation, praised her for doing such a good job.
Fans of Gwen Stefani know that she and her ex-husband, Gavin Rossdale, have three children together including Apollo, Zuma, and Kingston, who are 6, 12, and 14, respectively.
The 51-year-old singer-songwriter said it was tough to be in the public’s eye, however, her kids didn’t choose it to be that way. It’s important to protect them from the consequences of living such a visible lifestyle.
As it was previously reported last month, Clarkson confessed that she has always been an open book about her life in the past, but she wants to be more careful this time around. The star went on to say that she “probably won’t go too deep with it.”
